Having just purchased Kayaks this summer, my husband and I have never experienced the need to rescue anyone on any of the trips we've taken and wanted to be sure we would be ready. Until we take a Kayak class, I looked for a number of rescue tapes and this seemed to be the best one (found on You Tube) for us to try on our own. I also work with students at camp Mi-Bro-Be with learning how to Canoe on the lake and thought it might be a good idea to find a few videos on collapsed canoes. Hopefully I will never have to use those either!

I just returned home from the Ohio Association of Teachers in Family and Consumer Sciences conference. During one of the breakout sessions related to our new standards, we were given the website www.talktofriends.org to use concerning relationships. There are many videos/clips on the website that match our new standards. There are even places for our students to create their answer to the question and post the clip on the site. For example, I have linked the answer of a young man on when he thinks is an appropriate age to start dating. This could facilitate or begin a discussion in class after viewing a male vs. female thought.

This is a cute cartoon video teaching students about the 50 states and their capitals. It has a catchy song that students can easily learn. One of our 4th grade teachers has this song on a CD but now I can show him the video that goes with it.
