"Kathy Robertson - Grade 6 - Language Arts I use photos in my small group language arts class to help my students make connections with abstract concepts to something concrete. The following are some of the ways I use them. I have used google images and put photos on the smartboard in the morning for a writing prompt for weekly writing assignments. I have taken the students photos in the beginning of the year and they write autobiographical poems in the beginning of the year then at the end of the year we use photos with a poetry unit. I also have my students write another autobiographical piece and with a new photo of them so they can see the changes and growth. I also add picutres to powerpoint presentations when frontloading information in other content areas such as science and social studies." | |
